The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an intergovernmental economic organisation with 35 member countries, founded in 1961 to stimulate economic progress and world trade (Source: Wikipedia). One area OECD compares across countries is work-life balance.
The most important aspect for a healthy work-life balance is the amount of time people spend at work. Think about it. The less time spent at work, the more time you can devote to your family or other personal interests. The ability to balance work, family, and personal interests is important to your well-being. The authors of the Better Life Index note that "evidence suggests that long work hours may impair personal health, jeopardise safety and increase stress." The United States (U.S.) ranks 30th out of 38 considered countries. It is not included on Statista's chart below.
