Many administrators and even faculty members are leaning towards using open source material rather than requiring a textbook and the associated technology. I'd be interested to know how others have addressed this issue.

I saw the results of a survey once that stated that one reason why profs are reluctant to to with a open source textbook is concerns about quality/credibility. I can agree with that.
I've seen what look like quality textbook alternatives on the web, but I also have to admit to a little trepidation about making a change that big. As "modern" as I'd like to think I am, not using a traditional textbook would make me a little....I don't know, anxious?
