Do your students read their online book? Mine have to work through the textbook projects, but I think they do it blindly, without really reading... Some will look at study guide reports in SAM to remediate and train, but I have an idea that will get their noses back in the book and allow them to create their own custom study guide!
Show them how to highlight or bookmark or add notes to their online textbook for any tasks they miss (direct from the remediation link in their SAM Study Guide Report). This will allow them to be in charge and create their own customized study guide in MindTap!

This is a good idea and I have done something similar to this also regarding getting students to read the textbook (online e-book). As with everything else, the key to get students involved and actively do something is to show them the different funcionalities clearly so that they know exactly how to navigate through things easily (create a video demonstrating these or go over in class) and also how they can be useful to them in learning the topics as well as preparing for exams. This is particularly helpful for online classes where creating customized study guides can be a very valuable learning activity for students. Further, often assigning a couple of extra credit points help to get them do things in a more engaged way.
