Dr. Dixon teaches courses in international relations and American government.  His courses include American Foreign Policy, International Organization, International Law, and International Conflict and Conflict Management, as well as the Department’s introductory International Relations and American Government courses.  He received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 2007.

In 2014 Dr. Dixon was awarded the USG Regents Teaching Award for Faculty Excellence for UWG. In 2015 Dr. Dixon was selected as a Governor’s Teaching Fellow, a statewide fellowship that promotes excellence and innovation in teaching practice. Dr. Dixon has won teaching and service awards in the College of Social Sciences and was ranked as the #12 highest rated professor in the United States on the professor rating site RateMyProf.com in 2012.

Dr. Dixon is Associate Director of the Thomas B. Murphy Center for Public Service. He is affiliated with the interdisciplinary programs in Global Studies and Women's' Studies at UWG and is a member of the Graduate Faculty. He has served as Chair of the Faculty Council of the College of Social Sciences and is the Chair of the UWG Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.

His research focuses on international conflict management and international institutions.  Current research projects include dispute settlement at the World Trade Organization, the impact of economic interdependence on international rivalry, and the role of domestic politics in the success or failure of foreign policy.
