2001 Honda Civic EX overheating

This question is answered

My car has been running hot for about a month now. There are no leaks, but gauge almost redlines periodically. I replaced the thermostat, but car continues to overheat. One weird this is, usually turn the heater on to help with cooling the car, but it only blows cool air when it's overheating. any suggestions?

Test the cooling system for proper coolant flow and fan operation. Check the temperature readings and sensors. If the cooling system, radiator, fan and new thermostat check out okay, then you want to test for a head gasket problem.

You need to buy a testing kit or have a shop perform the test. Instructions come with the test kit!
