Dr. Ciampa, I would like to start a discussion forum for my students so that they may complete their case projects. I noticed that one already exists for the Security+ Guide to Network Security Fundamentals, however when I try to create a new post I am denied access. Can you help?

Thank you,

Joe Keefe

Hi, Joe:

Hmmm.  I don't know what the issue could be.  I'll pass this along to the site's tech support so they can dig into it.

Joe,

I am the technical product manager for this site.   Your comment is very much appreciated and it has set off a string of email and discussions. We have put the projects into a "discussion" forum and restricted new posts so that it is easy to see all the projects.   In retrospect, it may have been more appropriate to have used a blog where everyone would expect only to be able to reply.   But even if we did use a blog  your needs would still not be met.

So I have a question for you.   Would you find it useful if we create an open discussion group, "Security+ Projects - Open Discussion" where you were permitted to start new discussions (post new entries rather than only being able to reply)?    We are bit concerned that conversations about the projects will happen in two places, but based on your needs, we think it's worth seeing what happens.

At any rate, we plan to create this open forum and we have your input as the instigator of what we hope will be an improvement to the site.

Thank you and I welcome yours or anyone's response.
