With wages in the US and the possibility of more dollar depreciation, there is some reason to think that manufacturing here could gain and become more competitive globally, Niall Ferguson says. However, he argues that any gains are short term, unless the US is able to foster a more competitive business climate nationally. And that, in part, means cleaning up laws for conducting business and making them more transparent from state to state:
