As the Boomer generation ages, the so-called "older workforce" is growing. And this has brought about a curious dilemma in a lot of workplaces: younger supervisors managing older workers. This can be a tricky mix. Peter Cappelli, director of the Wharton School's Center for Human Resources, has been studying how businesses respond to an aging workforce. In the new book Managing the Older Worker: How to Prepare for the New Organizational Order, Cappelli and co-author Bill Novelli--former CEO of AARP--make the case for embracing the potential of building a strong, multigenerational workforce. And they give advice on managing such a workforce. Cappelli speaks about the challenges of managing older workers, and shares some examples of companies that have met those challenges effectively, in this short video from Knowledge@Wharton:
