Clyde Prestowitz, president of the Economic Strategy Institute and adviser in the Commerce Department during the Reagan administration, looks at the rise of China and sees a lot of similarities with the rise of the US in the Nineteenth Century. And he credits Alexander Hamilton with setting the US on the course of becoming an industrial power:
