A year ago we pointed to an article in the Wall Street Journal on the rapid rise in the number of entrepreneurs starting small, "craft breweries" during the recession. And it seems a lot of small brewers did well for themselves in 2009. CNN Money reports that while beer sales overall went down in 2009--showing that beer sales are not, as it turns out, as recession proof as we thought--beer sales for small, craft breweries went up 7.2% over the previous year. Still small brewers are struggling to break into the market against giants Molson-Coors and Anheuser-Busch InBev. The plight of the small business beer makers is the subject of a documentary, Beer Wars, which was released last month. CNN reported on the doc and the fight for shelf space by beer entrepreneurs:
