I became aware that my exhaust manifold has a small crack in my 2001 Honda Civic. Just recently I have been having problems with the engine temperature rising. Can a cracked exhaust manifold contribute at all to the engine temperature?
I didn't find the right solution from the internet.References:
Yes of course it can. If there is not a complete seal from the exhaust manifold to the Y pipe or what ever the exhaust pipe routing configuration. But if there is a leak it may cause the back pressure to drop and lose power in that cylinder that is close to the crack. Some places can weld the part even if it is cast iron but it probably is cast aluminum and not cost so much unless the tig torch cannot fit in the area with a couple of the parts removed to gain better access to the crack. Good luck !
