I am using the Excel 2007 edition. When I am preparing for my lecture, I work through the book tutorials and setup an outline for the students to follow during my in class lecture. All of the areas I want to stress in my have a page reference for the student to reference during the lecture. I demonstrate the key areas of the chapter by taking control of the student's computer screen. I usually focus on building formulas and major techniques. The sheet I use has most of the basic formatting done. This way it cuts down on my lecture time and I can focus on the areas that students will have most difficulty. While I lecture, I have my Excel file open and the online textbook copy as well. This way I can show the students the reference page in the book I am refering to during my lecture. This and the outline I created before the lecture help students have a study guide for the test as well has a reference for the lecture notes. The outline is posted on their Banner Course studio account as well. During the lab portion of the class, I consistently have students reference the outline I have created.
